Access: currently climbing is not permitted at Thacher until opening day. We expect public access to begin in late spring 2017, monitor our Blog and Facebook page for updates. Most of the area is CLOSED now to protect rare bats while they raise their young. Please respect the current rules. When Thacher is open to the public we will update this page with details.
Basic Rules: At Thacher climbers will have their own special use area separate from the Indian Ladder Trail area. When you are in this area you will have to follow rules including no-off route or off-trail travel and no trad climbing as well as signing liability waivers (similar to Peterskill area at the Gunks). See more on our expected rules here.
