Here are photos of climbers at John Boyd Thacher State park. Some photos were taken during the infrastructure development period in the previous fall, while others were taken after our public opening in July 2017. While some individuals in the photos here and in other locations online are not wearing a helmet we do not recommend this. It is highly recommended to use head protection and belay from a proper location as the area is new and not yet polished from climber use. The Gunks in contrast have seen over 80 years of climber traffic. So come with the proper equipment and awareness, and enjoy one of the most beautiful parks in Upstate New York.
